EARLY TREATMENT

The American Association of Orthodontics recommends that children have an initial evaluation by the age of seven. It is the optimal time to evaluate skeletal development and to identify the position of the permanent teeth. Severe malocclusions (incorrect jaw bone development) can be treated or modified at this time–as needed.

TWO-PHASE TREATMENT

Phase I / Interceptive Treatment – generally takes place between the ages of 7 and 12. During this preventative phase, we utilize orthodontic appliances to slowly and steadily redistribute and redirect growth. This improves the jaw position and establishes the appropriate space for permanent teeth – all prior to even considering braces. All patients are different, and in some cases, Phase I isn’t required. When appropriate, we move right into Phase II.

Phase II Treatment – once the foundation is properly set, we utilize braces to guide teeth into the appropriate positions. When the bite, teeth, bones and gums work in harmony, the results will last a lifetime.

ADULT ORTHODONTICS

More and more adults are seeking orthodontic treatment. With healthy gums and bone structure, teeth can be straightened at any age.

SURGICAL ORTHODONTICS

Sometimes jaw discrepancies are quite pronounced – the upper and/or lower jaw(s) may be too large or small and not fit properly with the cranial base – and require orthognathic surgery. This type of surgery corrects skeletal discrepancies in the bony structures of the teeth and jaws.

INVISALIGN®

For patients who want the benefits of beautifully aligned teeth without going through orthodontic treatment that everyone you encounter will notice, Invisalign® is a series of custom-made, clear aligners suited to adults and teens with minor orthodontic needs. These aligners gradually shift teeth into proper alignment without using braces, and this treatment makes the process nearly invisible.

Patients are given a series of aligners at each orthodontic appointment-typically every six weeks. Each aligner is worn for about 2-3 weeks before graduating to the next aligner in the series. Invisalign® is a brilliant approach – but it’s not for everyone. A proper assessment will identify the method that is ideal for you.

INVISALIGN® TEEN

Invisalign clear aligners are virtually invisible and most people do not even notice them. Since they are removable, you can eat what you want without any worry of breaking a bracket or rubber band. That means no metal braces for Prom, yearbook photos, or playing sports.
